L2 Founder and CEO Scott Galloway discussed healthcare on Bloomberg today with former Barack Obama campaign manager David Plouffe. Plouffe said even though 7 million people have signed up on the exchange, 14 to 15 million people have insurance as a result of the act when taking into account Medicaid expansion. Galloway said the healthcare act will be established as one of history’s best branding efforts, one only Obama could pull off. He pointed out several aspects of the law that will be remembered. First, it was supposed to be DOA but it is here to stay. Second, it proved the importance of a working website. Third, it is another government program that facilitates the young subsidizing the elderly. The young pay high premiums and use limited service, and the rest is used towards care for the elderly.
