It’s been a week since the announcement that Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts will be joining Apple as Head of Retail next year, and speculation as to why she would leave her $26 million post in London has run the gamut. Some think she was poached to develop truly fashionable wearable tech, while others think the hiring has more to do with growing business in Europe and China. Still others think she was brought in to evolve Apple’s on- and offline retail presence. In an interview on Bloomberg TV earlier today, L2 Founder Scott Galloway gave his perspective on the surprise hire, explaining that Ahrendts’ Head of Retail position will likely be temporary–a stepping stone to something far more powerful at Apple.
