Corona has teamed up with fashion bloggers and Gilt for an Instagram campaign featuring beer-inspired outfits. Menswear writers Talun Zeitoun and Ryan Clark, Style & Smitten founder Alyssa Lenore, and The Marcy Shop’s Lauren Gould have created Corona-inspired looks and shared with their followers. The campaign also includes a contest which offers $200 in Gilt credits to winners.

But why would a beer brand choose outfits over food pairings or beverage posts? Perhaps because the Fashion and Retail categories have two of the largest communities on Instagram. L2’s Snapchat vs. Instagram study finds that even though Beverage brands on Instagram show high growth and engagement, they have smaller followings compared to Fashion, Retail, and Activewear. Capitalizing on the popularity of clothing and accessories posts on Instagram is a smart move from Corona.
