In a previous post, we mentioned how personal care brands in France are investing in video content, but failing to utilize YouTube effectively. As a result, view numbers are low compared to the amount of content uploads. But a recent report shows that video consumption on Facebook has jumped 50% between May and July, with an average of 1 billion views daily in June. And Facebook is adding to new features to multiply that. It will be making view counts public – which YouTube has done for years – to help users discover popular videos. With these developments, Facebook could become the primary platform for brand video distribution.
Facebook usage is far ahead of Twitter usage, especially in Europe. Furthermore, brands have larger communities on Facebook than on any other platform. Perhaps, these video discovery tools can increase engagement on Facebook as well.
