L2 released this week an Insight Report on European beauty brands’ presence on Amazon. The study finds that in the three markets studied – France, Germany, U.K. – the majority of beauty products on Amazon are sold by third-party retailers. However, the discounts third-party retailers offer vary by country. A smaller percentage of Amazon products sold in France (13%) are discounted relative to Germany in the U.K. Meanwhile, 72% of Beauty listings by U.K. merchants on Amazon are sold at a discount.
Subscribe & Save adoption varies by country as well. Germany leads with 70% of mass beauty merchant listings and 25% of prestige listings eligible for the Amazon feature. U.K. lags with just 35% of mass beauty listings and 5% of Prestige Beauty listings by Amazon merchants.
