Several of the fastest-growing and most innovative of these platforms come from Asia, most notably China’s WeChat, now more than 300 million users strong. In this new video interview, L2’s Head of Research Maureen Mullen talks about another of these Asian imports: Japan’s social mobile app LINE. Since launching just over two years ago, the platform, which now has 200 million users, has posted astoundingly fast growth, using localized advertising campaigns to gain huge followings in countries like India, Thailand and the Philippines.
