Today, we released the 2013 Digital IQ Index: Korea, the third in a series of four Digital IQ Index reports focused on the APAC region. Excerpts of the first installment on China and the second on Japan are both available for download on our site. This report analyzed the digital performance of 95 global and 5 local prestige brands in Korea — across all luxury retail verticals — and benchmarked the top 10 across: Site, Digital Marketing, Mobile and Social Media. This study also takes an in-depth look at the reasons behind why many believe Seoul will be the region’s next luxury hub, considering that Korea’s luxury sales have experienced uninterrupted double-digit growth since 2006. The biggest story, as you can see in the Top 10 rankings below, is beauty–the industry that dominated with eight of the top spots. Bobbi Brown, which came in No. 1, secured its place with strong blog presence on the country’s biggest search platform Naver (1.6 million visits so far), best in class localized social media accounts (No. 1 for Twitter, No. 2 for YouTube) and a robust mobile strategy that includes m-commerce functionality.
