Pinterest recently announced a site feature that alerts users when a Pinned item drops in price. L2 Founder Scott Galloway discusses the implications of this move, possibly the first foray into monetization for Pinterest, in our latest video interview.

Social media accounts for less than 3 percent of upstream traffic to brand and retailer websites. However, the average order value from Pinterest is among the highest of digital drivers, at $180. Prof. Galloway proposes this may be because homewares tend to be higher priced items, and are also one of the most popular image categories on Pinterest.
