Bloomingdale’s launched #zoomingdales today, a series of shopping guides in the form of Instagram collages. Each image has 100 products, and tapping on it will take visitors to one of four microsites where they can zoom in on products and shop them on a single webpage. Today’s guide was about holiday dressing and items were divided by “Dressy Holi-date”, “New Year’s Eve in Times Square”, The Office Holiday Party”, and “Potluck House Party.”
Department store brands’ adoption of Instagram is becoming near ubiquitous, according to L2’s Department Stores Intelligence Report: Social Media. Ninety percent of Department Store brands are present on the platform, and communities are growing by 160%, multiple the 35% average growth on Facebook.
At the same time, brands are looking to turn that following into social commerce. Some have put Pinterest buttons on product pages. Others have joined Wanelo, a shopping platform with a pinboard design. But Instagram tools that link to a shopping site (Liketoknow.it, #InstaKors and now Zoomingdales) are on the rise as well.
