Despite weak consumer electronics retail sales in the US, Amazon’s 20 percent surge in market share has effectively closed the remaining gap between the e-commerce juggernaut and its last source of immediate competition—Best Buy. Generally, consumer electronics brands are complicit in this realignment, migrating investment in site direct-to-consumer e-commerce features to merchandising efforts on retailer platforms. As such, an increasing number of Index brands are relying on direct referrals to authorized retailers.
