A winner: brands with a mobile-first strategy. Barely 3% of the 1,800 brands we ranked in 2015 classified as Geniuses, and this was one of the major criteria setting them apart from the crowd. One such winner was Home Depot, which boasts a mobile app packed with useful features.

Another winner: Rolex. After ignoring digital for years, the brand finally started posting on Instagram. Thanks to the star power of celebrity ambassadors, Rolex swiftly overpowered its rivals in terms of interactions.

A final winner: American Eagle. In 2013, as its stock declined, the brand methodically invested in omnichannel features. That long game paid off this year with significant sales growth.
